Denver Butson, Licensed Real Estate Broker

A Brooklyn resident for twenty-five years, Denver Butson has lived in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and now Carroll Gardens and thinks affectionately of Brooklyn as "a smaller town than the tiny town I was raised in in Pennsylvania." A nearly twenty-year veteran of real estate, Denver started his real estate career as a rental agent earning the trust of dozens of local landlords and apartment seekers as he rented hundreds of apartments. After only a couple years in the business, Denver moved on to sales, as he simultaneously headed up the rental department at a boutique firm. Soon, Denver and a business partner started their own firm which was a fixture on Court Street in Cobble Hill and was for several years the most successful boutique firm in the neighborhood. That firm was also a hub for art and culture, serving as a gallery, a reading venue, and a community activism site. In 2017, after a ten-year run, Denver’s firm was acquired by Douglas Elliman Real Estate, and Denver started building his team there.

A prize-winning poet whose fifth book of poetry was published in 2022, Denver frequently collaborates with celebrated visual artists, musicians, and filmmakers, and has had work in high-profile anthologies, on National Public Radio, in New York City galleries, and in performance spaces and exhibitions in the US and abroad. Denver is an avid home chef, a community gardener, a musician, and a proud and active husband and father. You might see him on weekends shopping at the Carroll Gardens or Grand Army greenmarket, reading or any day of the week playing pickleball in Brooklyn Bridge Park, or having dinner with his family or playing guitar while his daughter sings on his Carroll Gardens stoop.
